Buyer Family | Breman, Ariaen | Buyer Notes | On 17 November 1612, Adriaen Breman, from Leeuwarden, was betrothed to Marie Jans van Wassebergen, living in Haarlem (DTB 763/12). He was a grain merchant. He signed the same petition in 1621 regarding the unloading of imported grain as did Valerius van Gistele (R 27537). In 1627, he joined 26 other aalmoezeniers (provisioners for the poor), who were also for the most part grain dealers, in a petition concerning the collection of a levy on grain to benefit the poor. He was buried in the Zuiderkerk in 1630 (Maandblad Amstelodamum 74(87), p. 87). Adriaen Breman freighted two ships between 1609 and 1616 and three ships between 1617 and 1625 (Winkelman, Bronnen voor de geschiedenis van de Nederlandse Oostzeehandel, R.G.P., 185(1983), p. 627 and 186(1983), p. 776.) On 20 May 1669, the death inventory of Maria van Wassenbergen, widow of Adriaen Breeman, was taken. It included a portrait of the late Adriaen Breeman (Not. H. Venkel, film 3023). |
