Buyer | Cornelis Huybertsz. op't Water in de Pauw.
Buyer Family | Huybertsz., Cornelis
Buyer Notes | On 8 July 1610, Cornelis Huybertsz., 23 years old, living on the Nieuwe Dijck, assisted by his father Huybert Dircksz. and his mother Anna Jacobs Paenden, was betrothed to Maritje Senten, 20, assisted by her swager and nicht Jan Hermansz. van Pechell (DTB 666/235). Cornelis Huybertsz., living op 't Water in the house de Pauw. was a soap boiler (zeepzieder). He signed a petition of the soapboilers concerning the amount to be given for each barrel of soap to the barrilmakers. Twelve years after he bought the present lot, in a deposition of 10 August 1626, he was said to be living op 't Water in de drie Swaentgens (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.G.P. 78(1933), p. 603). He was one of the registered soap-boilers after swearing the oath in 1627 (S.A.C. Dudok van Heel in Jaarboek Amstelodamum 83(1991), p. 92). On 27 October 1626, Tryntgen Huybrechts, assisted by her brother Cornelis Huybrechts, presented her two children to the Orphan Chamber, Neeeltgen, 7, and Jannetgen, 4, whose father was Wouter de Lennep, painter. A sum of 1,200 f. was assigned for their inheritance from De Lennep (WK 5073/789). Wouter de Lennep should not be confused with Wouter van Lennep of R 20505, who was a wine distributor. Our buyer, if he remarried, may be identical with the individual named Cornelis Huybrechtsz. who apparently died before 26 June 1636. On that date, Job (?) Pietersz. Uijl named his uncle Jacob Jansz. Stout (of R 32182) to sell on behalf of Claertgen Pieters, widow of Cornelis Huybrechtsz., various assets, including a house on the Conincxgracht (NA 991, fol. 58, Not. J. Bosch). The last-named Cornelis Huybrechtsz. is certainly not identical with Cornelis Huybertsz., living on the Binnen Amstel, who was buried on 23 August 1640. A sum of 10 f. were paid on his behalf to the church (DTB 1054/133vo).
