Buyerde soon van Hinlopen
Buyer FamilyHinlopen, de soon van (Jacob Jacobsz.)
Buyer NotesThe buyer was probably Jacob Jacobsz. Hinlopen (1582-1629), the son of Jacob Jacobsz. called Hinlopen (c. 1550-1613). Both were cloth merchants of South Netherlandish origin (Gelderblom, Zuid-Nederlandse kooplieden, p. 304). The younger Hinlopen, like his father, was a prominent cloth merchant and dealer in East Indian wares (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 309). On 4 October 1618, Jacob Jacobsz. Hinlopen, former alderman, assisted by his brother Frans Jacobsz., living on the Nieuwen Dijck, was betrothed to Sara de Wael, assisted by her father Jan de Wael (I), 27, living in the Warmoesstraet (DTB 423/26). Sara de Wael (or Wale), widow of Jacob Jacobsz. II, continued her husband's business after his death. On 22 January 1630, Sara de Wael, widow of schepen Hinlopen, together with Jacob, Lyntgen, and Sara Hinlopen, all living in the same house, were invited to the wedding of Bernard de Moor and Clara van Capelle (Nederlandse Leeuw 44(1926), p. 10). The widow of Jacob Jacobsz. Hinlopen, living on the Heeregracht on the West side of the Koninck van Denemarck, paid a tax of 875 f. in 1631 (Kohier, fol. 293vo., p. 67). The son of Jacob Jacobsz., named Jacob Jacobsen Hinlopen (one of the guests at the wedding of Bernard de Moor), married Anna Tholinx, the daughter of Dirck Tholinx, alderman, on 11 December 1642 (DTB 458/389).
