Buyer FamilySomeren, Arnout (Aert, Artus) van (I)
Buyer NotesArnout (or Aert) van Someren (I), the brother of the painter, art dealer, and innkeeper Barent van Someren (of R 20424) was born in Antwerp. He was first noted in Amsterdam in 1594 (Gelderblom, Zuid-Nederlandse kooplieden, p. 314). He seems to have been a merchant (Gelderblom, ibid.) On 19 May 1602, he was present at the baptism of Balthasar, the son of Melchior Dortmont de oude (of R 31176) (DTB 138/38). He was the executor of the testament of Barent van Someren in 1604. He must not be confused with Arnout van Someren II, the son of Barent van Someren, to whom Jan Six van Chandelier dedicated two poems (Oud Holland 24(1906), p. 8). Note: This painting was opgehouden (held up or withdrawn.
