Buyer | Lucas van Valckenburgh |
Buyer Family | Valckenburgh, Lucas van | Buyer Notes | Lucas van Valckenburgh, born in Antwerp in 1584, was the son of Jan van Valckenburg (of R 31706) and of Elisabeth Michiels Varlaer. On 31 January 1610, the brothers Marcus (born in 1587) and Lucas van Valkenburg were baptized as adults (op haer bekentnisse) in Sloterdijck. They were probably Mennonites. On 4 July 1619, Lucas van Valckenburch, 34 years old, assisted by his mother Elisabeth Michiels, was betrothed to Susanna Coeymans, 21, assisted by her father Caspar Coeymans (of R 31693), living on the O.Z. Voorburchwal (DTB 423/321). Lucas had the following brothers and sisters: Anna, married to Aernout Cobbaut de jonge of R 21250; Margaretha, married to Marcus de Vogelaer of R 23422; Elisabeth, married to the pensioner and poet Jacob Cats; Maria, married to Willem van Wely of R 21266; Susanna, married to the attorney Fabian van Vliet; Marcus, already cited, who lived in England and was buried in Hatfield on 27 October 1653; and his partner in business Matheus, born in 1588, at first merchant in Amsterdam, then in London, married to Isabelle Eyre, died in Hatfield on 4 April 1644. The exact year of Lucas's death is not known, but he must have died between 1647 and 1653 (Nederlandsche Leeuw 6(1944), col. 51 and foll.) |
