CommentaryJasper Egbertsz. was admitted as a sworn keurmeester of the soap boilers in 1628. He seems to have been the son of Dr. Egbert Johannis Bodaeus, the owner of 't Aepgen. Dr. Egbert Bodaeus, born in 1575, was sworn in as keurmeester in 1630 (Dudok van Heel, Een groote concentratie ..., Jaarboek Amstelodamum 83(1991), p. 92). It would appear that he was more or less insolvent at the end of his life as his heirs had to request a mandement granting them benefice of inventory. Egbert's sister Aeltge Jans, born in 1584, was betrothed to Wybrand Pauw on 20 February 1605. Egbert himself married Aef Dircks in July 1599 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 91). Dr. Pieter Pauw, cited in the INTRO, bought bulbs at the auction of Pieter Pietersz. in 1625. He was the nephew of Wybrand Pietersz. Pauw. The apothecary Jan Jansz. Commersteyn is probably identical with J. Commersteyn cited in R 26643 of Montias2. Roeter Ernst (II), cited in the INTRO, was the son of Ernst Roetertsz. of R 20042 of Montias2. Jasper Bodaeus was buried in the N.K. on 2 November 1638 (DTB 1054/119vo). Jasper had two brothers, Gijsbert and Johannes a Stapel. On 4 December 1631, Gijsbert Egbertsz. sold one half of a house on the Grimenessesluijs (the other half was sold by Weyn Otten). The house, in the attic of which a Catholic schuilkerk was set up, bordered on the house of Wybrant Claesz. (of INVNO 367) and that of Pouwels Rombouts. The sureties for the sale of the house were Dr. Egertus Bodaeus and Gysbert Egbertsz. (Maandblad Amstelodamum 46(1959), p. 159). The buyer was Jacques Beltens, the brother of Pieter Beltens I of R 32467. The house was sold again by the heirs of Jacques Beltens and his wife Lucia Dircks (Jacques died in 1658) in 1672). The heirs, children of Jacques Belten, were Jan and Elisabeth Beltens (ibid. pp. 160-1).
