Commentary	There are two men with the name of Jan (or Hans) Jacobsz. van Sulpen. The older, Jan Jacobsz. van Sulpen I bought lots in 1612 (R 23891 of Montias2). He was the brother of Lyntge van Sulpen, the mother of Scheltes Dirricxs of R 34495. The younger one, who follows, was born about 1630. On 4 June 1650, Jan Jacobsz. van Sulpen (II), journeyman tailor (snijdergesel), 20, living on the corner of the Lelystraet, assisted by his swager Antony Bloenders, was betrothed to Annetje Jelis Vertangen, 19, living on the Hoysteeg, no living parents, assisted by her niece Susanna Rosendael (DTB 467/653). Since the older one would have had to have been quite old at the time he became insolvent, it is more likely that the owner of the goods in the present inventory was his son. Annetje Jelis, cited in the above betrothal act, was probably the daughter of Gillis Vertangen of INVNO 241, born in 1631. Finally Jacob Jansz. van Sulpen, who may have been the son of Jan Jacobsz. van Sulpen I, was married to Anneken Ryckerts. On 1 May 1631, the couple had their son Jan baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Franchoijs Baltus and Griesgen Heyens (DTB 6/304).
