Commentary | Zacharias Hooftman, born in Haarlem in 1605, died on 12 January 1648. He was a merchant on the Heeregracht and owned with his brother Andries a hoftstede near Haarlem. He married Eva Voet on 10 February 1637. She was born on 25 February 1616 and died on 22 January 1653, Eva was the daughter of Hendrick Voet (cited in the NOTES to R 20357) and of Anna van Munster (Elias, Vroedschap van Amsterdam, p.503). Abraham Alewijn, cited in the INTRO, was a buyer at R 25547 of Montias2. Alewijn was the brother-in-law of Jan Fonteijne (of R 8357), likewise cited in the INTRO. Among the books in the inventory: A bible printed in Cologne and a history by Triglandius. It may be noted that half the attributions in the Voets inventory were to painters, like Hendrick Pot, who spent at least part of their career in Haarlem. | |
