CommentaryOn 6 April 1634, Dirck Thomas Molengraeff, from Alckmaar, 25 years old, surgeon, assisted by Thomas Dircksz. his father, living in the Nieuwebrugsteech, was betrothed to Hilgont Huyberts, assisted by her father Huybert Ariaensz., living in the Dolhuys (DTB 673/85). The house on the Nieuwebrugsteech was cited in a document of 30 October 1628, where Marritgen Jans van Santen, widow of Dominicus Gerritsz.,declared to have been paid by Doctor Thomas Dirxsz. Molengraeff, as owner of this house, in which Cornelis Harmensz., broker in Amsterdam (perhaps of R 27709 of Montias2), also owned a share (NA 237, fol. 83, Not. J. Meerhout, Extracten). According to a notarial act of 19 May 1634, the wine dealer Laurens Jansz., living in Denmark, had been baptized by Dr. Thomas Molengraeff (NA 991, fol.17vo, Not. J. Bosch). On 26 July 1640, Dirck Thomasz. Moolengraef presented his three children -- Tomas, 6, Teunitgen, 4, and Jacob, 6 months--to the Orphan Chamber, whose late mother was Hillegont Huyberts, and declared that the children were entitled to 2,100 f. for their mother's inheritance (WK 5073/789). On 13 June 1645, Dirck Thomasz. Molengraeff, widower of Hillegont Huyberts, was betrothed to Catharina Pieters, widow of Engel Cornelisz. (DTB 462/155). His children minor children at the time the present inventory was drawn up were Pieter, 20, Stijntgen, 19, and Cornelis, 17. These children must have been procreated by Hillegont Huyberts since he only married Catharina Pieters in 1645, 9 years before the date of the present inventory, and these minor children were all three over 17 years old. Dirck Thomasz. was buried, coming from the Nieuwe Waels Eijlant, on 7 November 1669. 16 f. were paid to the church on his behalf (DTB 1056/16). Tobias Meijert who was appointed as guardian of the children of minor age must be identical with Tobias Meyer cited in the NOTES to R 24270 and R 34333 of Montias2. The religion of the collector is inferred from the print of Gomer and Armijn and the print of Dr. Palidanus, and from the books in the inventory, which included Een martelaers boeck gedruckt tot Dordrecht anno 1619, Dordtse Synode, books of Calvin, etc..
