Commentary	On 10 August 1623, Gerrit Brant was betrothed to Neeltje Jeroens Gijsels (DTB 428/147). On 26 October 1645, Gerrit Brand, widower of Neel Jeroens, was betrothed to Maaike Stevens, widow of Joost vanden Ende (DTB 678/134). Maaike Stevens is presumably identical with Mary Steen, the widow of Gerrit Brant. Gerrit Brant bought prints at an Orphan Chamber auction in 1637 (R 25289 of Montias2). Gerrit Brandt was the father of the famous Remonstrant historian of the same name. (The shift from a first marriage in the Kerck to a second marriage in the Pui is significant in this regard).
