Introduction	Staet [ende inventaris van de goederen ...] van wijlen Wijbrandt Claessen. ebbenhoutwercker, gelijck hij denselven met sijn ooverleden huijsvrouwe Elsgie Hendricks staende echte in gemeenschap gepossideert heeft, ende soo vele den inboel belanght, door Annetien Hendricks ende Lijsbeth Martens beijde gesworen schatsters, ter requeste vande voorn. Commentary	Wybrant Claesz. was very well off, especially for an ebony worker. Beside the inventory of movable goods, evaluated at 3,091 f., he owned houses worth 21,800 f. and 250 f. of ebony worker's equipment. He married in the Kerck in 1614, 1637, and 1642, but in the Pui in 1617, perhaps because his bride Nelleke Jans, widow of Aart de Carpentriz, was not Reformed. Note that Sinjeur Oulenborgh op ten Dam in De Bril owed the estate f 70:--:--. A second inventory was drawn up after the death of Wybrandt Claeszen on January 12 1651, at the request of Lubbert Lubbertsen, tailor, and Wolff Friedrick, sailmaker, as guardians appointed by the Orphan Chamber over his children (Westfrisius 565 B fol. 32-39v) with a list of art works which overlapped with INVNO 367 but differed from it in some details. This inventory was not appraised. On 27 November 1622, Wybrant Claesz., coffin maker, and Neel Jans had their daughter Annetje baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Cisert Lourens and Grietge Claes (DTB 6/33). On 26 February 1637, Wijbrant Classen, from Leewarden, widower of Nelletje Jans, ebony wood worker, living on the Grimmenessesluijs, was betrothed to Lysbet Willemsdr. (illiterate), from Antwerp, widow of Pieter Ariaensz. (1/2 year), living in the Nieuwe Roelestraet (DTB 446/51). Already in 1631, he lived in the Grimmenesluijs, next to Jacques Belten (cited in the TEXT of R 988 and of 1115 of Montias1). He then remarried with Neeltje Hendricks on 16 January 1647. On 20 January 1640, he signed an agreement with a number of other creditors of Hendrick Uylenburgh by which the art dealer guaranteed eventual repayment of his debts and pledged all his goods, to each creditor in proportion of the amount he owed (Bredius, Künstler-inventare, pp. 1687-8). Finally, on 5 May 1651, Wijbrand Claesz., widower of Neeltje Hendrix, was betrothed to Elsje Hendrix (DTB 468/464). He died the same year as his fifth marriage. Note that two inventaries were taken in quick succession, one with prices and the other without. They differ only slightly. INVNO 367 is the one with prices.
