Commentary	On 18 January 1630, Nicolas Pathuys (Groningen 1602-1662) bought the house de oude Swan in the Oude Teertuynen. Roman Catholic services had been performed in the house. Pathuys was also R.C., as the contents of his inventory confirm. He married Catharina Boelens (Hoorn 1591-1657) in 1628. In 1642, he became insolvent on account of the heavy investments he had made in a Brazilian venture. His house was sold by executive order. It was bought by Rem Anthonisz. Fonteyn (of R 27380 of Montias2) who was also R.C. (Maandblad Amstelodamum 75(1988) p. 51). The daughter of Nicolas Pathuys and Catharina Boelens, named Wanfrida, married Caspar de Canas Trujillo de jonge, the son of Caspar de Canas Trujillo de oude, a member of the Council of Inquisition of Seville. She had apparently been abducted by her suitor. They attempted to marry in Utrecht in August 1652, but without success. They eventually settled in Amsterdam (I. van Eeghen, Een schaking in 1652 Maandblad Amstelodamum 59(1966), p. 238).
