Commentary | On 2 April 1642, Cornelis Touw, from Delft, notary public, 27 years old, living on the Nieuwe Dijck, was betrothed to Catharina Pieters, 31, no living parents, assisted by her sister Cornelia Pieters, living on the Kleuveniersburchwal (DTB 676/167). On 31 August 1648, Cornelis Tou and Trijntje Pieters had their son Petrus baptized in the Catholic Church. The godparents were Dirck Pietersz. Clapmuts and Geertruij Pieters (DTB 316/36). On 31 January 1651, they had their son Theodorus (Dirck, cited in the INTRO) baptized in the same church, with Andreas Pietersz. and Cornelia Pieters as godparents (DTB 316/40). Dirck Pietersz. Clapmus, kistemacker (box or coffin maker), signed a deposition concerning a group portrait of the Corporaalschap of Jan Claess van Vlooswijck, which had just been installed in the Nieuwe Cloveniersdoelen, on 29 July 1642 (for details see the NOTES to R 34512 of Montias2). Catharina Pieters, Andreas Pietersz., and Cornelia Pieters were presumably siblings of Dirck Pietersz. Clapmuts, who was undoubtedly related to the R.C. family of Cornelis Dircksz. Clapmuts of INVNO 769. Reyer Molesteen, cited in the INTRO as the uncle and guardian of Dirck Touw, the only child left by Cornelis Touw, was the husband of Cornelia Pieters Clapmuts, who was assisted by her mother Rycklandt Jacobs when he was betrothed to her on 8 May 1641 (DTB 676/51). Rycklant Jacobs, cited also in R 116 of Montias1, was married to Isaack van Gieteren, notary (NA 1266. fol. 29, Not. Barcman). On Reyer Claesz. Molesteen (Molensteen), retail hat merchant, see R 116 of Montias1. For a debt that Dirck de Milde owed to Reyer Molensteen, for which he pledged various works of art on 29 September 1654, see INVNO 198. | |
