Commentary	The individual who transferred these paintings to the Regenten of the Armenhuijs is likely to be the merchant of that name of R 29649 of Montias2. Hendrick Hendricksz. Houtlock, born in 1563, married Ibel Harmens Roswinckel, on 24 April 1588. He was the son of Hendrick Aertsz. and of Haesgen Hendricks (Elias, Vroedschap van Amsterdam, p. 160). Their daughter Haesgen, born in Alkmaar in 1589, married Hendrick Willemsz. Hooft (alias Hendrick Haeck) on 28 July 1611 (Elias, ibid.) The fact that Hendrick Willemsz. Haeck was Regent of the Aamoezeniersweeshuis and that the transfer of the goods of the present owner was made to the Regents of the Armenhuis supports this hypothesis. Haesge Hendricks, widow of Hendrick Willemsz. Hooft, signed the Remonstrant petition of 1628. The death of Hendrick Willemsz. in 1626 may be related to the transfer of the goods in the present inventory. Ibel Harmens died before her husband (see the portraits in R 17180 of Montias2).
