Commentary	Born in Kortrijk in Flanders, the wine dealer and broker Guillame van Baelbergen was first noted in Amsterdam in 1605 (Gelderblom, Zuid-Nederlandse kooplieden p. 294). On 11 December 1614, Guilliaemen Baelbergen and Trijntje Claes had their son Niklaes baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Andries Baalbergen, Phillip Claesz., and Hilletje Egberts (DTB 438/151). The present inventory was probably drawn up following the death of Trijntje Claes. On 11 December 1631, Gulliam van Baalbergen, from Cortrijk, widower of Trijntje Claes, living in the Louwersgracht, was betrothed to Marritie Claes, no living parents, living in the Niesel (DTB 438/151) Hilletje Egberts may have been the stepmother of Jacob Andriesz. Sael of R 27227 of Montias2. Gillijaem van Baelbergen, two of whose children had been buried not long previously, was buried on 14 March 1640 (DTB 1100A/37). On 17 January 1625, from Juers (or Jivers), 26, no living parents, having lived 15 years on the N.Z. Achterburchwal, was betrothed to Grietie Heyndricx, from Amsterdam, 24, assisted by her father Heydrick Lubbertsz. (DTB 429/361). On 13 December 1636, Jan Coerten (signs Courten) (perhaps identical with Jan Courten also cited in the NOTES to R 20084 and R 24343 of Montias2 where he was said to be a dealer in second-hand clothing) named Guilliam van Baelbergen, broker, to represent him in his affairs (NA 843, fol. 1406, Not. Hoogenboom).
