Introduction | Op den 30 August 1625 zijn vercocht dese navolgende goederen achtergelaten bij Cornelis van der Voort.
Commentary | On 24 October 1598, Cornelis van der Voort, 22, having lived 12 years in the Heygenhoeckssteech, assisted by his mother Tanneke van de Venne and Hans van der Voort, his brother, , was betrothed to Truytgen Willemsdr., 19 years old, living in the Yssel (Niesel), assisted by Evert Jansz., messenger (bode), and Clara Tyssen, her uncle and mother (Bredius, Künstler-inventare, p. 265 of the Nachträge). Truytgen's father was Willem Jansz., bode op Hamburg. A sister of his wife, named Giertje, was married to Matheus Anthonij Blaeu; another, named Grietje, was betrothed to the painter Govert Jansz. on 26 April 1603 (Oud Holland, 3(1885), pp. 189-190). Cornelis van der Voort remarried with Cornelia Brouwers. On 22 January 1623, Dorytea, daughter of Cornelis van der Voort and Cornelia Brouwers was baptized in the presence of Doritea Brouwers and Daniel de Lacave (ibid.) On 20 June 1625, Matheus Antheunisz., the granduncle of the late Cornelis van der Voort, insinuated Van der Voort's widow. Matheus Anthonisz., charged by the masters of the Orphan Chamber, requested in a friendly manner that all the portraits left by your late husband should be evaluated by unprejudiced (onpartijdige) persons, at their right price and value, as they are worth today ... and that you should have no say or pretension concerning any pluvalue that may have occurred (in these works) (Bredius, op.cit. p.266 of the Nachträge). In addition to the goods left by Cornelis van der Voort, four small lots were sold by Pieter van der Voort. Since the son Pieter (painter) of Cornelis van der Voort had died in 1624, it is likely that these lots were sold by the brother of Cornelis (born in 1556 or 1567 in Brussels (Lots 53 to 56 in the inventory in Montias2). Pieter van der Voort, comb maker, married Susanne Vinckboons on 11 December 1593 (Obreen, Archief voor de Nederlandsche kunstgeschiedenis, vol. 6, p. 55). A sale of Cornelis van der Voort's more important paintings took place on 13 May 1625 (INVNO 825).
