IntroductionOp den 16 octobris 1619 zijn vercocht dese naervolgende schilderijen achtergelaten bij Dirck Gerritsz. in de Swarte Caten
CommentaryCh. Dozy (Obreen, Archief vol. 6, p. 32) points out that paintings were frequently sold in de twee hammetjes op den Dam whereas other goods were sold elsewhere. He specifically mentions this sale in this connection. Dirck Gerritsz. in den Swarten Katen has not been identified. However, he is likely to be identical with the late Dirck Gerritsz., husband of Jannetge Pieters, living in the Koestraet, whose goods (which did not include art) were appraised by Barber Jacobs amd Reym Thysdr. on 28 November 1619. The total value of these goods amounted to 625 f.
