IntroductionOp den 11en februaris 1625 sijn vercocht die naervolgende goederen achtergelaten bij Jeuriaen Bolt.
CommentaryOn 18 January 1624, the heirs of Trijn Jans, widow of Jacob Gerritsz. Boom sold Jurgen Bolten, innkeeper in De Smack, a house and plot on the Warmoesstraet (no. 165), on the north side of the corner of the St. Jansstraet, extending to the house of Elbert Joosten, for 7,535 f. The sureties were Barent Adriaensz., bookseller (of R 30608) and Cornelis Pietersz. tinsmith (of R 36553) (Kam, Waar was dat huis in de Warmoesstraat, 37/2). On 12 November 1624, the masters of the Orphan Chamber authorized Jan Schouten, Isaack van Coningsloo, painter, and Pieter Barentsz., bode to Antwerp, in view of the lack of close relatives of the deceased (magschap), to go to the house where Jurgen Bolten, waert (innkeeper) in de Smack on the Warmoesstraet, and of Tryntgen Claes, his wife, had died in order to make an inventory of all his furniture and ready cash, incoming and outstanding debts, to profit those who may be entitled [to these assets] (WK 5073/513,fol. 22vo). On 4 September 1626, the house on the Warmoesstraet was resold to the painter Hans van Nes (van Essen of R 24928 of Montias2) for 7400 f. (Kam, ibid.) Shortly after the death of Jeuriaen Bolt, a dispute is said to have risen among the masters of the 3 f. tax on each barrel of beer, which involved Jeuriaen Bolt (NA 256, fol. 93, Not. Meerhout). A frequent buyer at Orphan Chamber auctions. Jurgen or Jores Bolt II, married to Anneken Jans, had his child Jan baptized on 16 September 1635 (witness, Michtje Tonders) (DTB 41/399). He was the father or grandfather of Egbert Juriaensz. Bolt who was one of the executors of the testament of Dirck Jansz. Bolt, usher (deurwaerder) of the Lutheran Church (INVNO 466 of 7 June 1672).
