Commentary	On 21 April 1612, Zwaantje Gerrits, widow of Jan Abels (3 years), was betrothed to Lazar Watring, from Metz, passementwercker (lacemaker), 30 years old (416/150). Swaentge Gerrits may be the uitdraagster known as Swaentge, who was a buyer at one Orphan Chamber auction on 15 June 1627 (R 19511). On 24 November 1627, Swaentge Gerrits, assisted by her chosen guardian Gerrit Jacobsz. Haringh, presented her four children before the Orphan Chamber (Noe, 14, Gerrit, 13, Maritge, 11, and Jan, 8), whose late father was Lazarus Watering, dealer in old clothing (oudcleercoper), and declared that the children were entitled to 1500 f. for their father's inheritance (WK 5083/789). Lazarus Wateringh is probably identical with the buyer (of many lots) only identified as Lazarus of R 19523.
