CommentaryOn 22 December 1620, Pieter Claesz. van Edam compared before the Orphan Chamber to present his son Claes, 10 years old, whose late mother was Ruysgen Cornelisdr. He was entitled to 8000 f. for his mother's inheritance. Her clothing was to be sold (they were sold on 2 November 1620) (WK 5073/789). On 24 January 1625, an accounting for the children of Pieter Claesz. van Edam showed that a speeljacht in the estate had been sold for 600 f. to Jacob Jansz. van Slooten (WK 5073/913). In 1631, a tax of 40 f. was paid for the son of Jan Claesz. van Edam (probably the brother of Pieter Claesz.), an orphan child in the care of the Weeskamer (Kohier, fol. 316, p. 72). Circa 5 June 1633, an arbitration concerning the estate of Claes Pietersz. van Edam, the son of Pieter Claesz. took place to settle a dispute among the nephews of Pieter Claesz. (NA 844, film 570).
