CommentaryPieter [van de] Putten may have been the son or grandson of Pieter Rutgers, burgermeester of Zwolle who settled in Amsterdam as a cloth merchant and died in 1590. (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 721). He was a buyer at auction in 1612 (R 21621). His brother, who survived him, was named Andries (R 26919 of Montias2).
