Introduction	Op den 2e julij 1620 zyn ten versoecke van den erfgenamen van Andries Jansz. Caan vercocht dese naervolgende goederen.
Commentary	On 15 November 1602, Andries Jansz. Kaan, 32 years of age, living in the Nieustadt near the Korsgen Poort, assisted by his father Jan Kaan, was betrothed to Machtelt Barthouts, 20, assisted by her mother Tietje Cornelis Codden and her neve Pieter Vlaming (DTB 410/224). In 1606, Andries Jansz. Caan, living in het ordeel, bought lots for 1 f. 16 st. in the Haarlem lottery (GAA, 141/11 F 1025). On the inventory of Andries Jansz.'s father, Jan Andriesz. Kaen, see INVO 710 of 11 March 1614. Jan Andriesz. was a packer (a warehouse man), as were Andries's brothers Willem and Jan Jansz. Caen. On 1 June 1617, Jan (Jansz.) Caen, Willem Jansz. Caen and Jan Pietersz. van Hoorn, all packers, contracted with Jan Gerritsz. to set up a company for warehousing (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.G.P. 78(1933), p. 437) The children of Jan Jansz. Caen, who were heirs of Andries Jansz. Caen, sold a house situated outside St. Anthony's Poort on 21 June 1621 (WK 5073/913). Willem Jansz. Caen, from Leyden, assisted by his father Jan Can, living on the Coningsgracht, was betrothed to Engeltjen Cornelis on 1 July 1617 (DTB 421/246). Lijfje Andries Kaen, the daughter of Andries Jansz. was betrothed to the ivory carver Jan van Belle (of R 27010 of Montias2) on 16 May 1619. He was 26 and she was 29 (DTB 423/267).
