IntroductionOp uts [28 juny 1622] zyn ten versoecke van Mary Aris vercoft de naervolgende goederen
CommentaryThe individual at whose request the sale was made is probably identical with the uijdraegster Mary d'Arras. On 9 April 1628, Francois de Gouve and Marie d'Arra had their son Jean baptized in the Walloon Church (DTB 130/25). On 18 December 1636, Francoys de Gouve, oudecleercoper (dealer in second-hand clothing), appeared before the Orphan Chamber and declared that his six children, ranging in age from Pieter, 15, to the twins Francois and Maria, 2 1/2, whose late mother was Maria Daras, were entitled to 600 f. from their mother's inheritance (WK 5073/789). On 10 June 1637, Francois de Gouve, oudecleercoper, widower of Maria Darras, living in the Nes, was betrothed to Elis de Faij, from Rijff Luyck, widow of Jean Beaufour (DTB 445/406). Mary d'Arras, who was a buyer at several WK auctions (R 36658), was most probably an uitdraagster. Beside the fairly expensive painting sold in this sale, there was only one other lot, 1 huijck (an item of woman's clothing) bought by Graeffin for 6 f. 15 st.
