CommentaryOn 9 January 1593, Daniel van Vlaenderen, from Antwerp, 29, living on the O.Z. Achterburchwal, assisted by his uncle Engelbert van Merhaghen and his mother Eijntje van Merhaghen, was betrothed to Syntgen (Tryntgen ?) Jans van Merhagen, assisted by her father Jan van Merhaghen and her mother Paschyntje Jans (DTB 406/276). Daniel van Vlaenderen, a cooper, invested 300 f. in V.O.C. shares in the first subscription of 1602. In 1606, he lived on the Nieuwe Rockin when he bought lots in the Haarlem lottery for 1 f. 18 st. (GAA, 2/15 F 13). On 26 April 1614, Johannes Hermanni, from Schuttorp, 28, predikant in Harinkhuysen, was betrothed to Trijn Jans, widow of Daniel van Vlaanderen (De Navorscher 8(1858), p. 318). Erckes has not been identified.
