Commentary | On 13 April 1602, Valerius van der Hoeven, painter from Antwerp, about 30 years old, assisted by his brother Felix and his sister Cathelyntje, was betrothed to Sophia Raesvelt from Aachen, 27, living in the Pieter Jacobsdwarsstraet (DTB 665/205). In 1606, 1608, and 1610, children of the couple were baptized in the Lutheran church. On 12 October 1619, he was again betrothed to Baeyken (Barbara) Hendrix (de Grove), 36 years old (DTB 424/19). The couple's testament is dated 25 September 1625. He witnessed a document on 27 April 1627 (Bredius, Künstler-inventare, vol. III, pp. 1038-9). Valerius was the brother of Felix van der Hoeve (of R 31605) and probably of Matheus van der Hoeve (of R 20575). De drie viseltgens was located on the Dam, on the corner of the Vischmarckt. | |
