Commentary	On 18 December 1614, the masters of the Orphan Chamber appointed Jacob Jansz. Lantarenmacker, the children's uncle, as guardian over and curator of the estate of the children of Captain Heyndrick Jansz. de Lange (WK 5073/513, fol. 148). In addition to Jacob Jansz., Captain Hendrick Jansz. de Lange may have been the brother of Michiel Jansz. de Lange (of R 21699 of Montias2), born in Bergen in 1578, husband of Grietge Woutersdr. Verhee, who invested 900 f. in the first subscription for V.O.C. shares (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 186). On 13 October 1633, Trujntje Claes, widow of Hendrick Jansz. de Lange, was betrothed to Willem Cornelisz. Bruijn (DTB 441/263). It should be noted that an earlier sale had taken place on 6 June 1608 of the goods left by Hendrick Jansz. de Lange, which consisted only of clothing. The proceeds of the sale, 186 f. 14 st., were paid to Dirck Jacobsz. Heyn (see the INTRO above) and Anne Jans, the godmother.
