CommentaryCornelis Boom I of the present inventory cannot be identical with Cornelis Boom II, the son of Abraham Boom, who lived from 1601 to 1651 and became pensionaris of Amsterdam. He is probably identical with the carpenter of that name who married Geertgen Ariaens (a buyer at auction of R 30284 of Montias2) on 29 January 1615. At that time he was 24 years old and living on the Spiegelstraet. He may have been a son or grandson of Cornelis Pietersz. Boom, lijndraaier and scheepmacker, who was married to Griet Jacobs Codde (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 132). The Hof van Bohemen where Cornelis Boom and Geertgen Ariaens had been living was indeed located on the Princengracht.
