Introduction	Op den 27e martij 1620 zyn vercocht de naergelaten goederen van Pieter Claesz. in zijn leven schoolmeester.
Commentary	On 24 March 1617, a post-mortem inventory of the goods of Pieter Claesz., schoolmaster, and of his wife (Sara Gerrits) was taken. The goods owned in common (?) were evaluated at 958 f. 1 st., the wife's clothing at 395 f. 10 st. The works of art that were listed separately were evaluated at 13 f. However, they were also said to be 5 small paintings in the binnecamer and 10 small and large paintings in the groote camer that were not evaluated. The painters Pieter Stalpaert and Jan Rieuwerts estimated that the works of art, all in all, were worth 140 f., not including, apparently, those that had been appraised separately (NA 647, film 4957). Sara Gerrits remarried with Cornelis de Meijer of Antwerp, droochschilder (cloth finisher), widower of Sabina van Wimpe, on 18 October 1625 (DTB 430/280). Cornelis de Meyer was a buyer at WK auction (R 31367). He became insolvent in 1646 (DBK 5072/352, fol. 6 and foll.) In an act of 8 August 1634, the house of Pieter Claesz., schoolmaster, on the Buijtendijckstraet, was cited (NA 728, film 5159, fol. 356).
