CommentaryThe sale probably comprised only a part of the goods left by Gerrit Reynst I who died in Jakarta on 7 December 1615, where he was governor general of the Netherlandish Indies. He was married to Margaretha Nicquet, the daughter of Jan Nicquet and Margerita Bosmans (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 373.) He was a wealthy merchant. His son Gerrit Reynst II was married to Anna Schuijt, daughter of Albert Schuijt (of R 28923 of Montias2) and of Constantia de Haze. He was a famous collector of naturalia.
