Commentary | The late Andries de Swart Ruyter was a captain. Hendrick Arentsz., who seems to have owned a lijnbaan, may be identical with the buyer of that name (R 32589 of Montias2) who was said to be living on the Campersteyder in the Dom van Munster. Commandeur Pieter Claesz. de Swarte Ruyter whose ships carried whale sperm was probably related to Andries de Swart(e) Ruyter (M. Simon Thomas, Onze IJslandsvaarders in de 17de en 18de eeuw, Amsterdam, 1935, p. 69). |
