CommentaryThe house het Postpaert on the Nieuwendijk across the Sint Jacobstraat still exists today (see the photograph in J.G. Kam, Restauratie van 'het Postpaert' aan de Nieuwendijk (nr. 113, Maandblad Amstelodamum, 66(1979), p. 17). The house had been bought in 1611 by the bookbinder Barent van Erpenbeeck, at which time the sign de Witte Engel hung in front. It is probable that Jan Jansen Postpaert was renting the house at the time of his death (J.G. Kam, Waar was dat huis in de Warmoesstraat, p. 18).
