CommentaryMelchior Bouwer, baptized on 21 June 1582, died on 23 August 1626. In 1621, he lived on the Keysersgracht bij de Tulp. He was a rechtsgeleerde in The Hague in 1609. He married Trijntge Lucas Rotgans (1585-1624) on 10 May 1609. For the goods sold after her death, see INVNO 824 of 10 May 1625. For further information on Trijntgen Lucas, see R 27856 of Montias2. See also INVNO 537 for the books and other objects inherited by Melchior Bouwer from Hans Bouwer. Arent Bouwer II, at whose request the goods were sold, was the brother of Melchior Bouwer. He was the grandson of Arent Bouwer I, married to Neel Hillebrantsdr., the father of Hendrick, Jasper, Balthasar, Hans, Maritge, and Helena Bouwer. The older Arent Bouwer was buried on 17 October 1585 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 413). Arent Bouwer II owned a packhuis on the Ooster Voorburchwal near the Ste. Luciensteech (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven, R.G.P., 69(1929), p. 834). On the guradianship of Arent Bouwer II over the children of Melchior Boouwer, see also R 27856 of Montias2. The present sale, which appears to be voluntary, may actually be of the goods left in the estate of Melchior Bouwer.
