Commentary | On 10 October 1598, Hans Haelbos, from Antwerp, widower of Catelijne Nijmegens, was betrothed to Susanna de Vries, from Antwerp, 30, living op 't Water, assisted by Hans Verspreet, her master (DTB 408/400). On 1 March 1601, Hans Haelbos, widower of Susanna de Vries, was betrothed to Geertruit van den Bremden (DTB 409/341). Abraham de Decker (of R 33004 of Montias2) was betrothed to Geertruit's sister Maaike van den Bremden on 9 March 1607 (DTB 412/190). On 12 November 1626, Abraham de Decker and Jacques Verspreet accepted the guardianship over Hans Halboes, the minor son of Gertruyt van den Bremden, the widow of Hans Haelbos, hofmeester (WK 5073/513). On 11 November 1627, Jacques Verspreet and Abraham de Decker, co-guardians of Hans, 17, whose mother was Truijtgen (Geertruit) van den Bremde, declared before the Orphan Chamber that Hans was entitled to 2,216 f. for his inheritance (WK 5073/789). It is not certain whether the painter Daniel van den Bremden and Josijntge van den Bremden, who was married to Antonie Marinisz. of R 27475, were the brother and sister of Geertruit van den Bremden or her nephew and niece.
