Buyer[crossed out: Cornelis Heemskerck] solvit
Buyer FamilyHeemskerck, Cornelis (de oude ?)
Buyer NotesThe buyer is likely to be Cornelis Cornelisz. Heemskerck, who was born in Leyden and became a citizen of Amsterdam in 1588, when he married Neeltgen Allertsdr. de Haes. He was a merchant who invested 1200 f. in V.O.C. shares. He paid a tax of 15 f. in 1585, living in the Verwerstraet (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 198). In 1631, Cornelis van Heemskerck paid a tax of 80 f., at which time he lived on the South side of the Heeregracht, on the West side of the Lelijgracht. In addition, a tax of 50 f. was imposed on his wife and on the children from his first marriage (Kohier, fol. 305, p. 70 and Van Dillen, op. cit., p. 198). Cornelis van Heemskerck's second wife was named Lysbeth Lamberts. In a procuration dated 30 July 1637, Claes Hendricksz. Stopper (of R 20012), as husband and guardian of Trijn Jans; Geertgen Jans, spinster; Gerrit Adamsz., as husband and guardian of Machtelt Jans; together with Pieter Jansz., all heirs of Lysbeth Lamberts, late wife of Cornelis van Heemskerck, named Meynert Pietersz. Emaus, also co-heir, to represent their claims on the estate of Lysbet Lamberts (NA 642, film 4954, Not. Sybrant Cornelissen, fol. 427). Gerrit Adamsz., married to Machtelt Jans, was a baker (DTB 6/150, of 27 August 1626, baptism of son Gerrit). It is very probable that Lysbeth Lamberts' first husband was the merchant Jan Janssen, from Campen. He was 22 when he was betrothed to Lysbeth Lamberts on 3 April 1593, who was 20 years old (DTB 406/317). Meynert Pietersz. Emaus, a tax farmer married to Grietge Cornelis, died before 10 December 1638 when the inventory of the goods he owned in common with his wife was taken (NA 1183, Not. J. de Vos).

BuyerHans de Keulenaer van de vrunden
Buyer FamilyKeulenaer, Hans de
Buyer NotesOn 8 December 1607, Hans de Keullenaer, from Antwerp, cooper (kuyper), 27 years old, living in the Pieter Jacobsstraet, assisted by Marcus de Keullenaer, his uncle, was betrothed to Heijltje Jansdr., 24, living near the Varckensluijs, in the Doelenstraet, assisted by her uncle Pieter Stevensz. (DTB 413/234). Pieter Stevensz. was undoubtedly the individual whose goods were sold at this sale (which accounts for Hans de Keulenaer's being called van de vrunden). On 6 September 1608, the couple had their daughter Neeltjen baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Markus de Keulenaer (Hans's uncle) and Corstjaen Struis (DTB 4/292). Corstiaen or Karstiaen Struys, from Antwerp, living in the Warmoesstraet, was a dealer in glassware, as was Pieter Stevensz. who came from Budel and became a citizen of Amsterdam in 1586 (M. de Roever, Venetiaans glas in Amsterdam, in Amsterdam: Venetie van het Noorden, exh. cat., 1992, p. 160.) On 26 February 1666, Corstiaen Struijs appraised the stock of Cornelis Rengers, a cloth dealer in the 1640s apparently dealt in glassware at that time (INVNO 1343). Anneken Struijs, the wife of Hendrick de Reijger of R 24536, who was also a glassdealer, was apparently his daughter (see the document of 6 March 1637 in R 24536).
