BuyerHans Vrancken
Buyer FamilyVrancken (Francken, Francx, Vrancx), Hans
Buyer NotesThe buyer is probably identical with Hans Vranck, born in Antwerp ca. 1575, who married Jannetke Valkenburgh in 1605. He was related to Guilliam Wijs who invested 6000 f. in V.O.C. shares (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 230.) Guilliam Wijs was apparently the father of Isaack Wijs of R 21742. On 30 March 1605, Hans Vrancx, 30, born in Antwerp, assisted by his stepfather Bernard Berrewijns, living in the Kalverstraet, was betrothed to Janneken Valckenborch, 19, assisted by her mother Judith Nuyts and her stepfather Johannes Polyander in Dordrecht (DTB 411/227). Janneken Valckenburgh was the daughter of Hans Valckenburgh and Judith Nuyts (who remarried with Jean or Johannes Polyander) (Elias, Vroedschap van Amsterdam p. 708). On Bernard Berrewijns, see R 1100 of Montias1 and below. On 26 September 1613, Hans Vrancxz. and Janneken Valkenborch had their son Joannis baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Judith Polijander, Korstijaen Barwijns and Johannis Polijander de jonge (DTB 5/78). On 15 May 1629, Hans Vrancx, as testamentary guardian of the children of Barnard Barwyns and Cornelia Anthonis, declared that Cornelia, the daughter left by Cornelia Berwyns, whose late father was the merchant Pieter Rombouts, was one of the heirs of Bernart Berwyns and Cornelia Anthonis, her grandfather and grandmother (WK 5073/789). Bernart Berwyns (or Barwijns) was a merchant, born in Antwerp, first noted in Amsterdam in 1589 (Gelderblom, Zuid-Nederlandse kooplieden, p. 295). In 1622, he was said to have in business with Samuel Blommaert (of R 21578), Lucas van de Venne (of 27635), Hans Rombouts (of R 30032), Frans Jacob Hinlopen, and two other Amsterdam merchants for 17 years (Gelderblom, op. cit. p. 231). He was also the father of Maria Berwijns of R 29783 and of Sara Berwijns of INVNO 1181. Hans Francken, who also seems to be identical with the buyer, paid a tax of 350 f. in 1631, at which time he was living on the Warmoesstraet (Kohier, p.25, fol. 104). He died after 1634 (Gelderblom, Prosopographic Data Base).

BuyerGillis de Pluis
Buyer FamilyPluis, Gillis de
Buyer NotesThe buyer was Pieter Boddart's brother-in-law. On 22 April 1618, Sara, fille de Gilles de Plouijs et de Louise Desruelle, was baptized in the Walloon Kerk in the presence of Jacques Des Ruelle et de Maryne Janneken, femme de Johan Harduyn (DTB 130/66). On 1 March 1620, Gille Plouijs and Louise de Ruelle had their daughter Susanna baptized in the same church in the presence of Willem de Vincq and Susanne Cocqs (DTB 130/99). Gillis de Plouijs was presumably related to Antonij de Plouijs of INVNO 481.
