Buyer | Guilliam de Pier in de Bloetstraet |
Buyer Family | Pier, Guilliam de (du) |
Buyer Notes | On 15 December 1607, Guillame du Pire, from Heynaut, 32 years old, living on the Warmoesstraet, assisted by his uncle and guardian Pieter du Pire, was betrothed to Cathalyne van Hecke, widow of Jan Debremeux (or Dorremieux) (DTB 413/83). It is not clear whether the individual cited below, whose wives had names other than Cathalyne van Hecke, was identical with the above. On 17 December 1616, Guillaume du Pire and Jenne Cableau had their son Jacob baptized in the Waals Kerck (DTB 130/38); on 9 October 1624, Guiillam du Pire and Caterin Gobert had their daughter Jenne baptized in the same church (DTB 130/178). On 7 July 1618, Gullaume du Piere, sworn broker, 43 years old, testified, at the request of Abraham Doremieux, concerning the price of orangine (organdine, a type of silk cloth ?) (NA 363, film 6403). On 26 February 1635, Abraham Dorenueux (probably a misreading for Doremieux), sworn broker, 55, testified at the request of the brothers Jacques and Guillaume van Hoorne, merchants, about a transaction he had been an intermediary for, in which Jean Minuit had bought a sack of silk from the Hoorne brothers, which silk could not be worked up (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven 144(1974), pp. 83-4). On 16 October 1648, Jan Minuit brought a suit in the Hague against the painter Jacob de Koning for debt reimbursement (cited in R 25394) (Bredius, Künstler-inventare, p. 1370). On 11 September 1629, Willem van Tongeren, silk goods merchant, brought an insinuatie against Guilliame du Pier, merchant and broker, who had sold him defective silk goods (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven 78(1933), p. 681.) In 1631, Guilliam du Pier, living on the South side of the Molensteech, paid a tax of 20 f. (Kohier, fol. 136vo., p. 32). On 30 January 1636, Guillaume du Pire lent Jeremias Hagens (of R 25243) 600 f., against which Hagens pledged all his goods (NA 642, film 4953). An individual named Guilliam du Pier, who is likely to be identical with our buyer, was buried in the F.K. on 22 May 1646 (DTB 1130/112). |
