BuyerIsaaq van Eyndhoven
Buyer FamilyEyndhoven, Isaaq van
Buyer NotesOn July 20, 1621, Isaak van Eijndhoven, 25 years old, living on the Zeedijck, was betrothed to Catalina van Hoogendorp, 23. He was assisted by his mother Janneken Kieft, she by Catharina Schopmans, widow of Harmen van Olthoff, of the present inventory (who was her guardian) (DTB 426/142). He was the son of Melchior van Eijndhoven, a merchant born in Antwerp, who was first noted in Amsterdam in 1585 (Gelderblom, Zuid-Nederlandse kooplieden, p. 300). Catilina van Hoogendorp was the daughter of Susanna Caluwart and the sister of Jacques van Hoogendorp, who married Susanna du Pire on 11 October 1610 (Nederlandsche Leeuw 73(1956), col. 241). Janneken Kieft was also the mother of Neeltje (Cornelia) van Eijndhoven, the wife of Jacobus van der Rosiere of R 27930. On 11 July 1624, Isaack van Eyndhoven and his wife Caterijna van Hogendorp had their son Melchior baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Boudewijn de Meijs and the widow Jannetje Kieff (DTB 6/87). On IJsaack van Eijndhoven's death inventory, see INVNO 629 of 1629. The marine painting in this lot may be identical with the onweder of R 23762 in INVNO 629, bought by Anthonetta van Endhoven (probably a sister of Isaack van Eijndhoven), which sold for 4 gulden 5 stuivers, virtually the same price as in this sale.

BuyerDavid Fransen
Buyer FamilyFransen (Fransz.), David
Buyer NotesWhen David Fransz., spices merchant (cruydenier), bought spices at the sale of Pieter Mercijs on 25 February 1625, his borg was Hendrick Pietersz. in de Keyser. In January 1633 (exact date illegible), David Fransz. and Gysbert van Wieringen set up a company to deal in spices (cruiderijen). The capital invested and the profits were divided equally (NA 843, fol. 476, Not. Hoogeboom). On 3 February 1637, the Orphan Chamber sold some goods at the request of David Fransen cruijdenier (INVNO 981). He is probably identical with David Fransen who signed the petition of the Vroedschap of 1643 calling for the reinforcement of the currency (Van Dillen, Wisselbanken R.G.P. 59(1925), p. 84). His partner Gysbert van Wieringen signed the petition for enforcing the currency regulations of 1622 in 1645 (Van Dillen, op.cit. p. 89).

BuyerDirck Geurtsen
Buyer FamilyGeurtsen, Dirck (van Beuningen)
Buyer NotesThe buyer is likely to be Dirck Geurtsz. van Beuningen (1588-1648), merchant and ship-freighter, active in the firm Reynier Reael and Dirck Geurtsz. van Beuningen, lieutenant of the civil militia from 1631. He was the son of Geurt Dircksz. (van Beuningen) of R 23334 and of his first wife Aeltge Appelman, the daughter of Balthasar Simonsz. Appelman. He was a witness to the baptism of Aeltje, the daughter of Anna Klaes and of Sijmon Appelman (who signed the Remonstrant petition) on 15 November 1611 (DTB 39/267). He married Catharina Burgh (1591-1667), daughter of Coenraet Matthijsz. and Brechtgen Pietersdr. Rodingh, on 21 July 1619 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 341.) Brecht Rodingh, widow of Coenraet Matthijsz., signed the Remonstrant petition of 1628. Dirck Geurtsz. van Beuningen paid a tax of 200 f., at which time he lived on the Raemsloot (Kohier, fol. 218, p. 50). He also signed the Remonstrant petition of 1628.
