| Buyer Notes | This lot was bought by Hugo Petit at whose request the sale was held. Hugo Petit was a schoolmaster. He was appointed guardian over the children left by Symon Willemsz. Meter, muijleschuyt (probably conductor of a mule-drawn barge), on 10 November 1621 (WK 5073/513, fol. 189). On 10 March 1626, he brought 104 f. 3 st. to the Orphan Chamber which he had collected from the V.O.C. as the wages of Gerrit Albertsz. van Bon who had sailed to the East Indies. He received 24 f. for his salary (WK 5073/549). On 10 April 1630, an inventory of the goods left by Sijmen Willemsz., now in the possession of his widow Grietjen Lammert, was taken at the request of Mr. Hugo Petit, schoolmaster. The inventory contained goods valued at only 60 f., including a small painting of the Sacrifice of Abraham for 1 f. (NA 482B, Not. Palm Mathijs). On 30 May 1636, Hugo Petit, school master in the N.Z. Groote School, turned over to Pieter de Vos, public notary, his school-teaching wages and the rents on his two houses, one on the Hooghstraet and the other on the Petaniendwarstraet, to cover the interest on two loans, one of which amounted to 2,215 f. (NA 911, Not. Eyloff). |
