BuyerDanckert Cornelisz.
Buyer FamilyCornelisz., Danckert
Buyer NotesThe buyer is probably identical with Danckert Cornelis Danckerts, the father of the engraver Cornelis Danckerts of INVNO 496 and of R 24616. He was the younger brother of the city mason and architect Cornelis Danckerts de Rij I (1564-1634) (Thieme Becker, Allgemeines Lexicon, article on the engraver Cornelis Danckerts). About 20 April 1657, Danckert Danckerts Corneliszszn had an inventory drawn up of goods left by his late father. This small inventory (evalued at only 460 f. 10 st.) included only 3 little paintings appraised at 3 gulden (NA 1121, film 1294, Not. J. van Ven).

BuyerHendrick Danckertsz.
Buyer FamilyDanckertsz., Hendrick (Cornelisz.) (de Rij)
Buyer NotesHendrick Cornelisz. Danckertsz. (de Rij) was the son of Cornelis Danckertsz. I (c. 1536-1595), mason (stadts metselaar in 1595) and Lysbeth Cornelis. He was also the brother of Cornelis Cornelisz. Danckerts de Rij I (1564-1634), stadts-meestermetselaar, and the uncle of Cornelis Cornelisz. Danckerts III. He was married to Neel Hendricks, the daughter of the butcher Hendrick Hendricksz. His daughter, Trijntje Hendricks Danckerts (1599-1635) was 19 when she married the mason Wouter Jansz. van der Spelt, born in Gouda, 22 years old, on 7 January 1618. When Trijntje Hendricks died, probably in 1635, she left her four children the meager sum of 400 f. If Wouter Jansz. Spelt was really born about about 1596, it is doubtful whether he can be identical with the mason of that name cited in 1696 and 1697, who would then have been about 100 years old. Perhaps his son bore the same name. On 17 November 1696, Schelte Popta and Hendrick Claesz. de Vries declared that they owed Wouter Jansz. Spelt (II?) 4,000 f. On 9 March 1697, Popta and De Vries bought a house for 16.000 f. from Wouter Jansz. Spelt (II?) (Maandblad Amstelodamum 48(1961), pp. 51 and 53). On 26 July 1618, Hendrick Cornelis Danckerts, stone (or brick) dealer, declared at the request of Jacob Jansz. van Assendelft, brickbaker in Leiden, that he, deposant, had bought hundreds of thousands of bricks from Jacob Jansz., which had always been held to be hearth bricks of good quality (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven 78(1933), p. 300.) Between 1635 and 1638, Hendrick Danckertsz. was a rooimeester, who ruled in disputes on the alignment of houses and similar questions on behalf of the city authorities. On 19 December 1635, Pieter Adriaensz. Raep and Cornelis van Campen chose Hendrick Danckertsz., rooijmeester, to settle a dispute that had arisen about the repairs to the house of Hendrick Dommer, merchant, with the carpenter (later called lumber dealer) Jan Jochumsz. Pol (NA 889, film 595, Not. van Zwieten). On Jan Jochum's initial cost-estimate for raising and transforming Dommer's house, dated 31 May 1634, see Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven 144(1974), p. 55). The house, de Vier Kalckdragers, was located on the Rockin (ibid.) Hendrick Dommer was said to be 36 in a deposition dated 17 December 1632 concerning a ship from Texel (NA 694, Not. J. Warnaerts). On 18 September 1636, the honorable Hendrick Danckertsz., sworn roijmeester, and Cornelis Danckertsz., sworn surveyor, together with Claes Adriaensz. Delff, mason, declared that Aeltge Danckerts, respectively their sister and aunt, had died and that her sons were presently in the East Indies. A proper inventory will now be made of her estate (NA 991, fol. 20, Not. J. Bosch). Claes Adriaensz. Delff was the brother of Pieter (I) and Dirck Adriaensz. van Delff (cited in the TEXT of INVNO 509). He apparently was a stone dealer as well (NA 381, fol. 542, act of 5 December 1618). On 27 January 1638, Jan Jansz. Keyser declared that they had gone to the house of Louis Delbeeck (Delbeque) on the OZ Oostervoorburchwal to estimate the repairs necessary on the house (NA 867, fol.r 29vo, Not. van Zwieten). On this house, where Louis Delbeque was living, see also the NOTES to R 30057.
