BuyerClaes Andriesz.
Buyer FamilyAndriesz. (or Andriessen), Claes
Buyer NotesThe buyer is likely to be the merchant who freighted 11 ships between 1590 and 1602, 7 ships between 1603 and 1608, 64 ships between 1609 and 1616, and 69 ships between 1610 and 1625 (IJzerman, Economisch-historisch jaarboek 17(1931), p. 268, Winkelman, Bronnen voor de geschiedenis van de Nederlandse Oostzeehandel R.G.P., 184(1983), p. 599, 185(1983), p. 627, and 186(1985), p. 599). He invested 2400 f. in the first subscription to V.O.C. shares (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 173). He was the brother of Adriaen Andriesz. (or Andriessen) of R 29031. He married Nicolette Doudenssen who, after his death, remarried with Marten Codde (of R 21399), of a prominent R.C. family. His daughter, who called herself Geertruy Claes or Geertruy Andriess van der Laen married Jan Andrea (Tensini) in 1638 (Maandblad Amstelodamum 54(1967) pp. 171-2). In 1643, a ship freighted by Joan Andrea Tensini was assaulted in the mediterranean by French pirates. The ship apparently contained Moscow talc (Wijnroks, Handel tussen Rusland en de Nederlanden 1560-1640, p. 345).

BuyerJan Jacobsz. Brouwer
Buyer FamilyBrouwer, Jan Jacobsz.
Buyer NotesJan Jacobsz. Brouwer was probably the son of Jacob Jansz. Brouwer (see Oud Holland, 4(1886), p. 256). On 3 May 1609, Jacob Jansz. Brouwer and Marij Cornelis had their son Abraham baptized in the O.K. (DTB 4/281). Jan Jacobsz. Brouwer is likely to be identical with the individual of that name who was a master of the Mannentuchthuis in 1611 (Jan Wagenaar, Amsterdam, vol. 2, p. 256). He was also a witness at the baptism of Jan, son of Cornelis der Voort and Kornelya Brouwers on 10 December 1619 (R 32470).
