Buyer FamilyFlorisz., Jacob
Buyer NotesIt is very likely that the buyer Jacob Florisz. was the son of Floris Gerritsz. and of Cornelisgen Alberts, the parents of Neeltgen Floris, the wife of the engraver Claes Jansz. Visscher of R 22512. He was the brother of Bartholomeus Florisz., the owner of the goods sold. He was a bargeman and the brother-in-law of Jan Jansz. Keyser. He was married to Dieuwertjen Huyberts. Her sister Aef Huyberts, who was married to the mason and rooimeester Jan Jansz. Keyser, was the godmother of one of the engraver Claes Jansz. Visscher's children. C.J. Visscher was married to Neeltge Floris, the sister of the engraver and mapmaker Bartholomeus Floris (of the present inventory) and, presumably, of Jacob Floris (I. van Eeghen, Amstelodamum Maandblad 77(1990), pp. 76-80). On 13 June 1613, Jacob Florisz., veerman op Haarlem (bargeman to Haarlem), and his wife Dieuwer Huibers, had their daughter Neeltje baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Jan Kornelisz., Kornelisgen Alberts, and Grietje Floris (DTB 5/69). On 14 July 1616, he was still veerman op Haarlem when he and his wife had their daughter Claertie baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Jorisgen Sijmonsdr. and of Lijsbetjen Reijniersdr. (DTB 5/189). On 2 February 1620, the couple had their son Jan baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Neeltje Floris (the wife of C.J. Visscher) (DTB 40/73).
