BuyerJelis de Meyer
Buyer FamilyMeyer, Jelis (Gillis) de (II ?)
Buyer NotesOn 6 April 1591, Gillis de Meijer, 20 years old, living in the Gansoort in Mechelen (in the Nes), assisted by his mother Beyken de Meyers, was betrothed to Lyntge de la Garde, widow of Gerrit van den Ende, living in Delft (DTB 762/182). It was probably his father Gillis de Meyer I who assisted his daughter, Anneken de Meyer, also said to be from Mechelen, when she was betrothed to Cornelis van Horick (of R 38647) on 10 February 1590 (DTB 405/253). He was the brother of Anneken (cited above) and of Matheus de Meyer of R 27729, born in Mechelen (where he was also probably born). On 17 November 1610, he was cited in a deposition concerning the profits that he was entitled to share in arising out of the farming of the excise tax on flour (along with Jochem Wachter of R 27974 and Bartelt Philipsz. of R 27378) (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven, 69(1929), pp. 693-4.)
