BuyerRoseboom
Buyer FamilyRoseboom (Gerrit Thomas ?)
Buyer NotesThe buyer is likely to be Gerrit Thomas Rosenboom, born in 1568, buried on 6 May 1644, clerk to the secretary of Amsterdam in 1597, secretary from 1601. He married 1) Barbara Jansdr., born in Brussels, and living in Leiden and 2), on 9 April 1602, Jacomijntje Lam, born in Utrecht in 1572 (DTB 410/47). On 20 December 1624, Gerrit Roseboom, secretary of the City, was appointed guardian over the goods left by the broker Dirck Thonisz. (WK 5073/513, fol. 24vo.) A daughter from Roseboom's second marriage, named Emerentia Rosenboom, married Jacomo Pauw (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 202.) Jacomo Pauw, Ridder (1597-1665) was one of the signatories of the agreement to subsidize the poet Jan Jansz. Starter (Oud Holland 3(1885), p. 54). Gerrit Rosenboom paid a tax of 150 f. in 1631 (Kohier, fol. 6, p. 3). The fact that Rosenboom's first wife was born in Brussels adds to the presumption that he was the buyer of this view of her native city.
