BuyerHendrick Dircxsz.
Buyer FamilyDircxsz., Hendrick
Buyer NotesThe buyer may possibly be Hendrick Dirksz., cloth dealer, who, along with Marten Pietersz. Codde of R 212399, and Laurens Jansz., also cloth merchants, made a deposition regarding the effect of the plague on the cloth business in April 1618 (Van Dillen,Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven 78(1933), p.285). It may in turn be the heirs of the same Hendrick Dircxsz. living on the N.Z. Voorburchwal who paid a tax of 75 f. in 1631 (Kohier, fol. 47, p 12). On 5 July 1655, another Hendrick Dircksz., cloth merchant, living in the Keyserstraet next to the Vergulde Pauw, signed a contract with his cousin Hans Sybrantsz. to the following effect. Hendrick Dircksz. undertook to withdraw from the business and transfer to his cousin (actually his nephew) all his stock and equipment. Hans Sybrantsz. promised to pay his uncle 12,000 f. within a year (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.G.P. 144(1974), pp. 636-7).

Buyer FamilyVos, Pieter de
Buyer NotesThe buyer is likely to be the brother of Jan de Vos II of R 36666, whom he assisted on the occasion of his betrothal on 2 August 1629. On 20 November 1636, Pieter de Vos was cited as oud coopman (NA 695B, film 4981, Not. J. Warnaerts). He is clearly not identical with the merchant Pieter de Vos, born in Veere in 1624, who married Maria Magdalena van Swol, the daughter of Samuel van Swol of R 8150, on 8 October 1654 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 398).
