Buyer NotesOn 26 March 1622, Jannetje Jans van Balen, widow of Pieter van Balen (II), was betrothed to Pieter Pietersen (DTB 427/61). On Pieter van Balen (II?), a buyer at WK auction, see R 27417. As a widow she continued in her first husband's wine-dealing business. Her post-mortem inventory of wines and brandy was drawn up on 16 September 1630 (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.P.G. 78(1933), p. 729. On 6 June 1633, Eduardo Pels, 26, and Jan Valois, captain in the Company of Nicolaes Hasselaer, 33, testified at the request of Jusua de Vos, husband of Josyntge van Balen, daughter of the late Jannetje van Baelen, about a sum of money that Jannetje van Balen had entrusted with Salomon Cornelisz., who lived in 't Vlies behind the Beurs. She had also entrusted him with various silver items. The money had come from Jan Robbertsz. (NA 694B, Not. J. Warnaerts).
