BuyerJan Lucasz. [crossed out: Pieter Kapprun]
Buyer FamilyLucasz., Jan
Buyer NotesJannitge Lucas was first married to the skipper Jan Lucasz. (see R 826 of Montias1), who obviously cannot be the buyer of this lot. He was perhaps the lumber dealer Jan Lucasz. (the brother-in-law of Sara Willemsdr.), who sold a lot on the Keysersgracht (no. 102) to Anthony de Lange and Jan van Hertoochvelt (Hartoogvelt), on which the new Remonstrant Church was founded (R 20499.) On 13 February 1636, Gillis Silvester, merchant (of R 32668) declared that he had seen a bill of exchange for 166 and 2/3 crowns at 120 groten the crown drawn in Bordeaux by Sr. Jan Lucas and Daniel Bur, merchants, who were both expected to pay at the demand of Casper Engelbrecht (NA 572, film 848, Not. J. Styns). On 27 January 1639, Antony Lodewycx transferred 370 f. to Jan Luycasz. and Lambert van de Velde (NA 695A, film 4982). This was probably in the wake of the death of Wybrech Jans, the wife of Anthonij Lodewijcx, whose inventory was taken on 5 January 1639. The total value of the movable goods in the inventory came to 5,313 f. The paintings, which were appraised by the painters Dirck Pietersz. and Dirck Dircksz. Santvoort, came to a total of 445.5 f. None was attributed, even though a large painting of the Queen of Sheba was estimated 100 f. (NA 1413, film 1381, Not. Frans Bruyning). Anthony Lodewijcx was apparently the brother of the book dealer and publisher Cornelis Lodewijcx van der Plasse of R 28224.

Buyeridem [Pieter Kapprun]
Buyer FamilyKapprun (Capoen), Pieter
Buyer NotesThe buyer may be the notary Pieter Jansz. Capoen of INVNO 122. In 1664, when INVNO 122 was taken, his wife Elisabeth Brughmans was said to be deceased. On 31 May 1638, Thomas Fletcher and Abraham Anthonisz. (of R 20033), curators of the estate of Denis Verschuyr, Abraham van de Sluijs (of R 20029) in the name of Aeghijen Hendricx, widow of Burgomaster Cromhout (of R 20492), Heertgen Jansz., Jan Willemsz., Wolfer Volckaertsz., Arnout Friesenburgh, and Pieter Capoen, with a procuration from Hans Francken (probably of R 20713), all freighters (reders) of the ship de Waterhondt, declared via Jan Cornelisz. Schellinger that they had each been paid their portion of the sum of 5,900 pounds Flemish (NA 1555a, fol. 153, Not. Jan Volckertsz. Oly, Extracten). On 18 June 1648, Joannes Essingh, on the point of leaving for New Netherlands, gave a procuration to his schoonvader Pieter Capoen, also notary (Extracten). On 26 June 1648, Pieter Capoen signed a contract for setting up a pekbranderij (asphalt distillery) with Ariaen Claesen Prigge (NA 1084, fol. 402, Not. J. van der Ven, Extracten).
