Ficke's gift of 334 paintings to the City of Davenport, where he served as mayor, formed the nucleus of the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery's permanent collection when it was established in 1925. While traveling the world Ficke collected Mexican Colonial, Spanish, Italian, British, Flemish, Dutch, and American Art from the 16th -19th Centuries. Ficke was the father of the poet Arthur Davison Ficke. |
