Julius Hirsch Carlebach owned the Carlebach Gallery, also known as the Julius Carlebach Gallery, in New York. In addition to selling ancient art from around the world different time periods, Carlebach represented modern primitive artists. Roy Lichtenstein had his first exhibition at Carlebach Gallery in 1951. Some works of art from the gallery were sold in a 1968 auction held at the Plaza Art Galleries (406 East 79th Street). Carlebach was married to Josefa Silberstein, who was associated with him in the art gallery. |
