history The Julius Böhler art dealership was founded in 1880 by Julius Böhler, focusing on the dealing of antique art. Between 1902 and 1904, he commissioned Gabriel von Seidl to design and build the company's headquarters on Brienner Street. In 1906, he was appointed Imperial and Royal Bavarian Court Antiquarian.

His sons Julius Wilhelm, known as Lulu, and Otto Alfons joined the company very soon after the building's completion. In 1920, Julius Wilhelm moved to Lucerne, where he founded the art dealership Böhler & Steinmeyer with his friend Fritz Steinmeyer. This was followed in 1923 by the establishment of Böhler & Steinmeyer, Inc. in New York, which existed until 1934, and in 1928 by the founding of Böhler & Steinmeyer in Berlin, which operated until 1932.

Also in 1928, Lulu's son, Julius Harry, joined the company at the age of 21, taking over from his father and guiding the firm through the years of the Great Depression and international isolation caused by the Nazi regime.

The post-war period brought a new surge of growth. Julius Harry Böhler and his son Julius Gustav succeeded in re-establishing the company as one of the leading international art dealerships.

The art market changed dramatically after the war, and it became increasingly clear that the art dealership, with its very large exhibition spaces, could no longer be used effectively. After his father's death in 1979, Julius Gustav continued the business in new premises on Pacelli Street.

In 1995, Florian Eitle-Böhler took over the art dealership after his uncle Gustl Böhler retired. At the end of 2004, the art dealership moved into its new premises directly on Lake Starnberg.
