Commentary | Pieter Jansz. Swelingh was the son of the famous composer Jan Pietersz. Swelingh of R 27883 of Montias2. He was born in 1593 and died in 1670. At some unknown date he married Heyltje Jans. He was a merchant and a regent of the Aalmoezeniersweeshuis in 1625. In 1631, he paid a tax of 230 f., at which time he lived on the West side of the N.Z. Voorburgwal (Kohier, fol. 289, p. 66). He was also a buyer at W.K. auction (R 20550 of Montias2, where more bio-data on Swelingh are cited). |
